Mikel Arteta has made a Premier League title promise to Arsenal fans after losing the crown to Manchester City for the second season running.

The Spaniard was hoping to end the Gunners' long wait for the trophy this term after an impressive run of form.

However, the north Londoners fell short in that attempt once again, with City reclaiming the trophy on the final day of the season.

With only two points separating the two English giants, Arsenal were hoping for a positive result against Everton and a City slip-up in their clash against West Ham United to stand any chance of lifting the crown.

While Arteta's men managed to salvage a 2-1 win over the Toffees, City hammered West Ham 3-1 to deny the north Londoners a chance to secure the league title.

Phil Foden was the man of the moment against the Hammers, with his double in the tie helping City retain the trophy for a historic fourth consecutive season.

Arteta makes promise to Arsenal fans

Reacting to Arsenal's title loss, Arteta vowed to give it another run next season.

In his post-match conference, the Spaniard admitted a second-place finish is not good enough.

"Don’t be satisfied. We want much more than that—and we are going to get it," he said, as quoted by Arsenal's official X account.
Arsenal won 28 matches in 38 fixtures to end the campaign with 89 points, just two behind champions City.

But despite their encouraging run, Arteta's men ended the season without a trophy, having also been eliminated from the Champions League in the quarterfinals.
