Super Eagles and Rangers striker, Cyriel Dessers, has made a heartfelt plea to Glasgow Rangers fans for more patience as he finds his footing at the club.

The 29-year-old Nigerian forward initially faced harsh criticism for not meeting expectations immediately, which was worsened by missed scoring opportunities.

Despite these early struggles, coach Philippe Clement maintained faith in the Belgium-born Nigerian striker.

This decision bore fruit, as the forward has delivered an impressive 22 goals and 8 assists across all competitions this season.

Reflecting on his challenging start, Dessers shared that he had gone through a personal difficult phase when he joined the 55-time Scottish champions due to the abuse he received.

“I’ve been through a really hard period in that time personally. You arrive here, and the amount of, I think that’s the right word, abuse, is unbelievable,” he said, as quoted by Soccernet.

With a contract extending to the summer of 2027, the Super Eagles international is confident that both his and the team’s performances will continue to improve. He expressed gratitude for his support and reiterated his potential, promising better performances if given ample time.

“Let me settle down, let me move in, let me get used to this league, let me get used to this country, let me get everything in my head straight, then I will show that I think that I can be a good striker,” he told Sky Scotland.

Looking ahead, Dessers and Rangers have a chance to clinch silverware with an upcoming Scottish Cup final against Celtic on May 25.

Dessers criticises Jose Peseiro’s tactics

Sports Brief reported that Dessers slammed Jose Peserio's tactics after the team beat Ghana in a friendly.

The striker said they wanted to be more attacking and not defensive like they did under the Portuguese.

Goals from Dessers and Ademola Lookman were enough to secure a 2-1 win after Jordan Ayew's late consolation.
