Key games on final day of 23/24 season

1. Manchester City vs. West Ham

The task is simple for the defending champions. A win over West Ham United this Sunday will give Pep Guardiola's men their fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Manchester City head into this matchup boasting a rich vein of form. They have won each of their last eight league matches, including a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on the road last Tuesday.

They defeated West Ham in their first league meeting this season by a score of 3-1. Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haaland scored the goals for City in the second half, per ESPN.

2. Arsenal vs. Everton

Arsenal head into the final day trailing leaders, Manchester City, by two points in the league table.

To win the title, they will need to beat Everton this Sunday and hope that the reigning champions slip up and drop points against West Ham.

The Gunners defeated the Toffees in their first meeting in the Premier League this season. Leandro Trossard scored the match-winner in the 69th minute, handing Arsenal the 1-0 victory.

3. Sheffield United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham's dream of reaching the Champions League next season is over after losing to Manchester City last Tuesday.

Such has been their struggles recently that even a Europa League spot is not a sure thing for Spurs. They will need to record at least a draw against Sheffield United on the final day for them to seal a place in that competition.

Tottenham defeated Sheffield United 2-1 in their last Premier League meeting. Spurs scored two late goals in second-half injury time to record the come-from-behind win, per the BBC.

4. Chelsea vs. Bournemouth

If Spurs lose to Sheffield United this Sunday, the door opens for Chelsea to claim a Europa League spot.

A win over Bournemouth this weekend, coupled with a Tottenham defeat, will see the Blues move up to fifth place in the standings.

The Blues and the Cherries played out a goalless draw in their first league meeting this season.

5. Brentford vs. Newcastle United

If Manchester City win the FA Cup this year, the sixth-placed team in the Premier League will capture the second Europa League spot.

For the Magpies to move up to sixth, they will need to beat Brentford and hope that Chelsea lose to Bournemouth on the final day.

Newcastle defeated Brentford in their first league meeting this season by a score of 1-0. Callum Wilson scored the match-winner via a penalty in the 64th minute.

Man City's Foden targets history

Sports Brief recently reported on Phil Foden aiming for history this Sunday as the Premier League wraps up.

The Englishman said Manchester City will forever be part of history if they win their fourth straight EPL trophy.

They will capture the trophy with a win over West Ham this weekend, even if Arsenal win the concurrent game.
