Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena, has named six players who should be the contenders for the 2023/24 DStv Premiership Footballer of the Season award.
Mokwena named four Sundowns players alongside players from Stellenbosch FC and Orlando Pirates.
The young coach, who has led Sundowns to PSL glory this season, named Ronwen Williams, Teboho Mokoena, Lucas Ribeiro, and Marcelo Allende as the main contenders for the top award, per iDiski Times.
He also mentioned Stellenbosch youngster, Jayden Adams and Orlando Pirates midfielder, Patrick Maswanganyi, as contenders.

Williams is close to securing his second straight Golden Glove in the DStv Premiership this season. He has kept 14 clean sheets in 19 matches, per Transfermarkt. Williams was last season's Goalkeeper of the Season
Mokoena bagged two awards last season, including Footballer of the Season. He excelled at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with South Africa.
Ribeiro is in his first season in the PSL and has produced eye-catching performances. The Brazilian has scored 12 league goals in 17 appearances. Meanwhile, Allende has also been remarkable in his second season at Sundowns.
Adams and Maswanganyi have also played important roles for their teams this season. Adams and Stellies will play in CAF competitions next season.
Maswanganyi is having an outstanding season at Pirates. The 26-year-old has registered nine goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season.

RugbyWilliams signs new Sundowns deal
Sports Brief reported that Williams signed a new contract at Sundowns that will keep him at the club until 2028.
The 32-year-old Bafana Bafana captain joined Masandawana two years ago and has become one of Africa's best goalkeepers.
Mosimane praises Mokwena
Sports Brief also reported on former Sundowns boss, Pitso Mosimane, lauding Mokwena's work at the club.
Mokwena took over from Mosimane, who coached the club for eight years and won many trophies before leaving in 2020.
