Kelechi Nwakali is no stranger to disciplinary issues and has found himself in hot water with a club once more.
The Nigerian national, who was once shown the exit door by a previous club for ‘disciplinary issues’, is now in trouble again.
As noted by Afrik Foot, Portuguese side GD Chaves have opened a disciplinary case against the midfielder following his actions during their last league game.
Chaves were beaten 1-0 by FC Famalicao, a defeat which saw them officially relegated.

While many focused on the team’s drop from Liga Portugal Betclic, others were more concerned with Nwakali’s behaviour on the bench.
The 25-year-old was spotted on his phone while on the bench, seemingly uncaring about his teammates and their relegation plight.
Nwakali’s previous disciplinary issues
It’s not the first time the Nigerian has been in trouble with a club he played for, either.
In 2022, he was let go by Spanish side SD Huesca for ‘disciplinary issues.'
Nwakali claimed he was dismissed because he went against the side’s wishes and played at the Africa Cup of Nations.
He added that the Sporting Director told him he would not play for the side again if he chose to participate in the tournament, ESPN noted.
He only made 33 appearances for Huesca before his contract was terminated, and he made 33 appearances for Chaves before getting into trouble. Nwakali once had a promising career, having been signed by English Premier League side Arsenal, but his career has taken a nosedive since leaving.

FootballWhy Nwakali left Arsenal for Spain
Sports Brief previously reported why Nwakali left English Premier League giants Arsenal for Spain.
The Nigerian international joined the Gunners in 2016 but failed to break into the first-team squad.
He recently explained that he left the side due to issues getting a work permit and opted to move to Spain.
