Before joining Zamalek in 2019, Emam was a member of Ghazl El Mahalla. He enjoyed great success at Zamalek, helping the club win the CAF Super Cup and the Egyptian Premier League, among other accolades.

He left for Midtjylland in Denmark in 2023 but returned to Egypt the following year to sign with Al Ahly. After joining Al Ahly, he made an immediate and lasting impression, helping the club win the Egyptian Super Cup and finishing third in the FIFA Club World Cup.

While playing for Egypt, Emam was a U-23 and senior national team member. He was integral to the 2023 squad that advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations semifinals. Regrettably, he sustained a potentially fatal head injury while practising for the AFCON. He has subsequently made a full recovery and is very appreciative of all the help he had while he was sick.

Emam Ashour's injury

According to the Egyptian Football Association, Emam had a concussion and a brain injury while training with the squad in January. In an Instagram post, Ashour finally addressed his injury, writing,

"I am 'between life and death.'"
