Pro wrestler turned actor Dwayne The Rock Johnson recently celebrated a huge milestone after surpassing the 200 million mark on Instagram.

Not only has the 48-year old reached the coveted milestone, he also becomes the most followed American man on the photo-sharing platform.

He ironically took to another platform, Twitter, to announce his achievement as he thanked his fans and followers for the feat.

"I’m so humbled by this massive tidal wave of support as we surge past 200 million
#1 most followed man in America. #1 most followed American man in the world. Love you guys and I always got your back,” he tweeted.

He joins the league of Portugal and Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the most followed human on the planet with an impressive 238 million followers.

The former WWE champion is now third in the list of most followed personality, with only Cristiano and pop singer Arianna Grande (203 million followers) ahead of him.

He also shared a video on his Instagram , thanking fans for the support.

"Always speak your truth, and do your best to speak your truth with compassion, with a little bit of poise, with a little bit of dignity, with respect and with empathy,” He said in the video.

The Rock’s story is as inspirational as it is superb as he has managed to transition from one of the most celebrated wrestling icons in history to the most paid actor in the world today.

He first gained popularity in 1996 when he signed with the World Wrestling Federation, which was later renamed the World Wrestling Entertainment.

Since then, he has appeared in a number of films and TV shows including the Fast and the Furious franchise, the animation Moana and TV series such as Ballers.

His Instagram is typically full of inspirational posts and the occasional workout regimen of the 48-year old and more recently, he has used his platform to promote his tequila brand.

After Cristiano and The Rock, Lionel Messi come in third as the most followed athlete on Instagram, with the Argentine’s posts mostly revolving around paid partnerships.

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli comes in fourth in the list of athletes with 81 million followers.
