Water trickled down the infamous Old Trafford roof during Manchester United's defeat to Arsenal on Sunday evening, re-emphasising what Cristiano Ronaldo said upon his return to the Theatre of Dreams.

Several other parts of the stadium flooded after the Red Devils were defeated at home by title-chasing Gunners.

The heavens opened towards the end of the highly entertaining fixture, in which Arsenal won 1-0 thanks to Leandro Trossard's first-half goal.

As the match approached full time, thunder boomed over the match venue, with the storm showing no signs of stopping, so much so that a barrage of water was seen pouring down from the roof in one corner of the East Stand.

talkSPORT reports that pipes located near the Old Trafford tunnel had rainwater pouring out of them and onto the floor.

Clubs fans have expressed concerns over the inside situation at the club, especially due to returning Cristiano Ronaldo's comments back in November 2022.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner criticised the club for what he described as outdated facilities, saying everything remained the same after more than a decade.

The Portuguese forward pulled no punches towards the Premier League club during his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

He returned to Old Trafford after 12 years, only to see familiar facilities at the renowned football club. Ronaldo said:

1. Nothing changed, surprisingly. Not only the pool, the jacuzzi, and even the gym. Even the kitchen, the chefs, whom I appreciate -- lovely people.
2. I thought I would see other things, technologies and infrastructure.
3. Unfortunately, we see a lot of what I used to see at 21, 22 and 23 years old. It really surprised me.
4. Since Ferguson left, I haven’t seen an evolution at the club.
5. Progress is zero.
6. If they start with me, it’s not a problem.

Man Utd fans criticise Casemiro

Sports Brief earlier reported that Manchester United fans singled out Casemiro for blame following their Premier League defeat against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag was without key players for the meeting, with the likes of Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes all missing the encounter.

Casemiro's role in the goal has seen him come under scrutiny once again, with a section of fans blaming him for the Old Trafford result.
