Football teams often go on long spells without tasting defeat, and on days that they are not even at their best, they manage to scrape draws regardless of the opponent.

For context, Arsenal's Invincible side of the 2003/04 side drew 12 games in the 38-game season, the most for a title-winning side in the Premier League.

Not only clubs but some players have gone on long runs without tasting defeats, and on most occasions, they miss the games even if their teams suffer a loss.

Sports Brief looks at the English league's top 6 longest unbeaten streaks.

Six longest unbeaten runs by players

1. Sol Campbell

Per Planet Football, the big defender holds the record for most Premier League games without defeat with 56 during Arsenal's Invincible run in the 2003/04 season. He went almost two years without losing a game between 2002 and 2004.

2. Rodri

Per SportBible, Rodri has the longest unbeaten record in all competitions in British history, with 71 games, 48 of which have been in the Premier League. The last time he lost a game was the 1-0 loss to Tottenham in February 2023. City play the same team next at the same ground.

2. Kolo Toure, Thierry Henry

Rodri has tied both Arsenal legends who went on streaks of 48 games in the season before and during the Invincible years. Both icons missed a game each in the 2003/04 season.

5. Jens Lehmann

Another member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Invincible squad, Lehmann, went on an unbeaten run of 47 games. He could have been tied with his mates, but he joined the club, and in his first season, the German helped them to an unbeaten title.

5. Ricardo Carvalho

The Portuguese defender was one of Jose Mourinho’s guardians in defence during his time at Chelsea. He had a 47-game unbeaten run, which could have been shorter, but he was an unused substitute in two games lost during that time.

Premier League award snubs Rodri

Sports Brief reported when the Premier League snubbed Rodri on the list of contenders for Player of the Season despite his impressive season, which could help City win the title.

Fans expressed their displeasure on social media that the midfielder, who has contributed to 16 goals this season, was overlooked for a player like Virgil van Dijk.
