AC Milan players wore special jerseys to celebrate Mother's Day and produced a dominant performance to brush aside Cagliari 5-1 at the San Siro Stadium.

Milan moved seven points clear of Bologna at the top of the table and only need a point from their final two games for the 2023/24 season after the results on Saturday.

Milan players celebrate Mother's Day

Per AC Milan on X, the club made special jerseys for the players, replacing their last names with their mother's maiden names on the back of their jerseys to celebrate Mother's Day.

Two-goal hero Pulisic had his number 11 jersey with his mother's name, Kelley Harlow, behind his jersey, while Nigerian-British star Fikayo Tomori had Sodipo. Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze’s mother's maiden name was George.

Head coach Stefano Pioli was impressed with the summer signing, and speaking to DAZN via Goal, he admitted he was better than he thought.

“Pulisic is a phenomenal player because he has quality in his choices and an exceptional intensity throughout the match. I had very positive perceptions, but then working together was even better than I thought, both for the quality of the player, for the quality of the person, and for the professional that he is,” he said.

Pioli will leave Milan at the end of the season and is expected to take over the vacant managerial position at Napoli.
