Manchester United is reportedly at the forefront of the race to sign Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace forward is expected to be a hot commodity in the summer transfer market.

Despite missing out on UEFA Champions League football, the Red Devils are edging ahead of competitors, Liverpool and Arsenal, in the pursuit of the highly sought after 22-year-old.

Amid preparations for a significant squad overhaul, Erik ten Hag has reportedly identified the French youth international as a potential catalyst for restoring the club's former glory, per ESPN.

Olise is being eyed as a replacement for Antony, whose performances since joining the club have fallen short of expectations. Although discussions are said to be at an early stage, Man United's proactive stance could prompt other interested parties to accelerate their efforts.

Despite grappling with fitness issues throughout the season, Olise has showcased his quality on the pitch when available. Despite missing a substantial portion of Palace's fixtures due to injury, he contributed seven goals and four assists in 16 Premier League appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.

Since his transfer from Reading to Selhurst Park in 2021, he has amassed an impressive record of 13 goals and 23 assists in 87 appearances for the Eagles, as per SportsMole.

Primarily deployed on the right flank, Olise possesses the versatility to operate effectively in various attacking positions, enhancing his appeal. With reported plans to offload Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho, alongside the potential departure of Antony, the club are reshaping their squad with an eye on the future.

While Chelsea triggered a £35 million release clause in the French star's contract last year, a proposed move failed to materialise, leading to the player signing a new deal.

ESPN also reports that a new buy-out fee is believed to be in place, with figures ranging between £50 - £60 million.

Five players Man United want

Sports Brief also listed five players Man United want to sign in the upcoming transfer window.

Erik ten Hag has reportedly drawn up a transfer shortlist of players he wants the club to target.

United have endured a mixed run of form and have struggled for consistent results this season.
