Paris Saint-Germain forward, Hugo Ekitike has declined a proposal to represent the Cameroon national team at the international level.

The 21-year-old, currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt has dreams of playing for France, the country of his birth at senior level. Ekitike has made a couple of appearances at youth levels for Les Blues.

However, following struggles for game time at PSG, his role at the senior level has been reduced leading to interest from FECAFOOT.

New Cameroon coach, Marc Brys took a tour to Europe to meet players of dual nationality as he builds a squad for June's World Cup qualifiers and his first stop was Germany.

According to Brys, the Frankfurt attacker has no intentions of playing for the Indomitable Lions, a decision which must be respected.

“We must respect his choice,” he said, as quoted by Allez Les Lions.

Meanwhile, the Belgian trainer also had an interest in Bradley Bracola, who looks to have a promising future with France while Carlos Baleba is expected to make Cameroon's team for the games against Angola and Cape Verde in June.

Brys was named coach of Cameroon in April following Rigobert Song's departure as reported by the BBC.

Song advises Brys over Ekitike and Baleba

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Arsenal midfielder, Alexandre Song advised Marc Brys on how to be successful as the new coach of the Cameroon national team.

The Belgian trainer was confirmed as coach of the five-time African champions in April, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal with the West African nation.

However, Brys' appointment has stoked some controversy, with the Cameroonian Football Federation reportedly yet to accept the Ministry's choice on the manager.

Onana welcomes new Cameroon coach

Sports Brief also reported that Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana welcomed new Cameroon coach Marc Brys, and he is also calling for unity between the Sports Ministry and FECAFOOT.

Brys was confirmed coach of the Indomitable Lions last week but the Cameroonian Football Federation led by Samuel Eto'o are yet to accept his appointment.

This has left Cameroonian football in a state of disarray with the national team set to return to action in June for the World Cup qualifiers.
