Liverpool’s poor end to the season has reportedly forced the Reds to enter the race to sign Napoli superstar striker, Victor Osimhen, when the transfer window opens this summer.
The Reds have seen an unprecedented quadruple challenge end in disarray in the last few weeks after being knocked out of the FA Cup, Europa League, and the Premier League title race.
According to The Hard Tackle, Liverpool aims to compete with Premier League rivals, Chelsea, for the signature of Osimhen, who the club wants to lead their attack next season.
The 25-year-old, who is also said to be on Paris Saint-Germain’s wishlist, has enjoyed a prolific season in Italy, scoring 16 goals in all competitions for Napoli despite battling with injuries.

Liverpool would have to pay the €130 million release clause to sign Osimhen from the 2022/23 Italian champions as they look to bolster their squad before the arrival of new manager, Arne Slot.
Liverpool getting tired of Nunez
Meanwhile, Liverpool wants Osimhen after fan sentiment turned against the likes of striker, Darwin Nunez, who has struggled to impress in his second full season with the Anfield club, Liverpool.com reports.
The Uruguayan striker has missed several golden opportunities to add to his tally this season, thereby raising doubts over his ability to lead the line for the Reds next season.
Nunez has scored 18 goals and added 13 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions for the Reds this season but the arrival of Osimhen will be expected to put the Uruguayan on his toes.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Albanian agent, Serxhio Mezi, believes Osimhen will likely join PSG in the summer transfer window as EPL sides continue to prepare big offers.
The French giants are reportedly willing to pay €90 million, but Napoli wants the Nigerian striker's full release clause, billed at €130 million, to be paid out before a move occurs.
Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, previously labelled Osimhen a 'great player' and insisted the reigning Serie A champions would not be forced into selling the Nigerian ace.
