Victor Osimhen and Didier Drogba share too many similarities in terms of their style of play and the Napoli striker has confirmed he modelled his game after the legendary Chelsea striker.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward, who was crowned the 2023 Africa Footballer of the Year, led Napoli to the Seria A title for the first time in 33 years last season, earning praise from the Ivorian.

According to Complete Sports, Osimhen confessed he has always watched clips of Drogba while growing up and has been inspired by the former Chelsea striker’s physical approach to games.

“The whole world knows that I am inspired by Didier Drogba. When I was a child, they introduced me to his [Drogba] style of football, the passionate fans, and then the whole community pushed me to follow him.

“And so, I started to take an interest in him, to watch many clips, and learn from his movements and integrate them into my way of playing.”

Osimhen, a key transfer target for top European teams including Chelsea, has 13 goals in 21 games for Napoli this season and has been touted to leave the Italian club this summer.
