Mikel Arteta has commended Kai Havertz for his outstanding performance in Arsenal's emphatic 5-0 victory over Chelsea on Tuesday, April 24.

The Gunners boss highlighted the German international's significant contributions beyond his two-goal haul in the second half versus the Blues.

In addition to Havertz's brace, goals from Ben White and Leandro Trossard added to Chelsea's woes, resulting in their heaviest defeat in a London derby.

The German's recent resurgence, following a slow start after his £65 million move from the blue side of London to the red section, has been impressive.

Havertz has been directly involved in seven goals (four goals, three assists) in his last five Premier League appearances, according to Opta Statistics.

Arteta gives Kai Havertz his flowers

While Havertz's goal-scoring form has been notable, Arteta also praised his overall impact on the team, emphasising his contributions beyond finding the back of the net.

"I must say that Kai Havertz's overall contribution in every phase of play was tremendous," the Spanish tactician said after the game, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
He further waxed lyrical about the former Chelsea star, saying: "When you add the two goals he scored and some of the link-up play that he had in big moments, it was a great performance."

What's next for Havertz and Arsenal?

Following his impactful performance against his former club, Chelsea, the Arsenal star will be aiming to maintain his excellent form as the table-toppers face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on Sunday, April 28.

With 12 goals across all competitions, including 11 in the Premier League, Havertz has been instrumental in the Gunners' pursuit of dethroning Manchester City and ending their 20-year wait for the English top flight title.

Havertz writes his name in EPL history

Sports Brief also reported that Havertz etched his name in EPL history in the London derby clash against Chelsea.

His brace made him the first player to score two goals against the Blues after having previously played for the club.
