Nicolas Jackson recently received encouraging words from Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, but it went from bad to worse for the Senegalese during Arsenal's rout over the Blues.

The Gunners were ruthless at the Emirates, navigating in and out of the Chelsea area with ease, while Jackson misfired for the visitors.

Drogba's recent message to Jackson was "keep your head high up and never stop working hard, it will pay off", but everything went wrong against the Gunners.

His performance raised questions from fans on social media with a disappointed one saying whoever scouted Nicolas Jackson needs to be investigated.

When did Nicolas Jackson join Chelsea?

Chelsea announced Jackson's signing last summer after the Blues paid Villarreal his release clause of around £32million.

He was the club's second signing of the summer after the £52million arrival of French international Christopher Nkunku.

The striker had scored 13 goals in 38 matches for Villarreal before attracting interest from the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Chelsea's co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said via Sky Sports:

"We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season.
"We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea team-mates."

How excited Chelsea fans compared Jackson with Didier Drogba

Nicolas Jackson left Chelsea supporters very excited after a sensational pre-season display for the club.

He scored two goals and registered three assists in pre-season games against Wrexham, Brighton, and Newcastle.

Pochettino was impressed and Chelsea fans went on to brand the forward as 'Didier Drogba in disguise'.

An excited football fan wrote on X:

"Jackson is Didier Drogba in disguise! I remember when plastic fans criticised this guy when we newly signed him now, the boy's on fire."

Ivorian legend Drogba had two stints with Chelsea, scoring over 100 league goals and helping them to various titles, including 4 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups and 1 UEFA Champions League title.

Nicolas Jackson's statistics for Chelsea

Since he arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer, the 22-year-old has featured in 38 matches in all competitions for the Blues, registering 13 goals.

Jackson has scored 10 league goals for the club, and according to Footy Stats, 5 of the goals were scored at home while he scored 5 goals at away games. Overall, Nicolas Jackson's goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.41.

Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 14 for this season.

Mikel Arteta hails Thomas Partey

Sports Brief earlier reported that Mikel Arteta praised Thomas Partey's performance in Arsenal's 5-0 demolishing of Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Ghana international started his first Premier League game since returning from injury as the Gunners recorded an emphatic win and opened their lead at the top of the table to four points, with Manchester City having two games in hand.

Although Partey has battled injuries this season, his presence in Arsenal's midfield against Chelsea was largely felt as the North London club dominated their rivals.
