Nicolas Jackson's goal-scoring woes persisted as Chelsea endured a humiliating five-nil Premier League defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday, April 23.

The Senegalese striker, who has faced heavy criticism all season for his lack of efficiency in front of goal, failed to redeem himself as he squandered a clear-cut opportunity.

Despite having scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season, per Transfermarkt, Jackson missed a couple of chances to add to his tally and failed to silence his detractors.

Jackson misses golden chance vs Arsenal

In a particularly glaring miss, the 22-year-old found himself one-on-one with Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya, in the 61st minute, with Chelsea trailing 3-0.

However, reminiscent of his struggles in his debut campaign, he inexplicably missed the target, shooting wide when faced with only the keeper to beat.

Despite his disappointing performance, Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, kept Jackson on for the entirety of the match with a rating of 6.9, as noted by Sofascore.

How fans reacted to Jackson's horror miss

One Chelsea fan, @KingsleyK19118, wrote:

"Jackson is our problem."

@Medievalhtybuff, on the other hand, claimed:

"This might be the worst finish of all time."

@seunalaran suggested that on-loan Chelsea forward, Romelu Lukaku, would have done better:

"Lukaku would bury that with his eyes closed."

@B_igJosh believed the Senegal international could have hit the target with his left foot:

"Could have used his left leg and scored. The coach won’t teach them everything."

@thfcem28 was baffled by Jackson's miss and quipped:

"You’re taught as a child to shoot across goal. How is he a Premier League footballer?"

Drogba shares goal-scoring tips with Jackson

Prior to the forward's miss against Arsenal, Sports Brief reported that iconic Chelsea figure, Didier Drogba extended guidance to Jackson.

Drawing from his own illustrious career and initial struggles with the Blues, he imparted valuable wisdom to aid the striker's improvement.
