Jose Mourinho has named two things that he was deprived of that were handed to Erik ten Hag on a silver plate during his stint with Manchester United.

The Portuguese manager spent almost three seasons at Old Trafford, including winning the Carabao Cup and Europa League in his debut season.

In the following campaign, he finished second in the Premier League, a feat he regards as one of the pinnacles of his coaching career, as reported by GOAL.

However, Mourinho's tenure came to an end in December 2018 following a string of disappointing results.

Since his departure, Man United has undergone several managerial changes, with Erik ten Hag currently at the helm. Despite the frequent changes, the club's success has been elusive.

Reflecting on his time as United boss, the 61-year-old, who is currently without a club after parting ways with AS Roma, disclosed that he faced challenges in his working relationship with former club chief executive Ed Woodward.

"My relationship with Ed Woodward was good—good from a personal point of view," Mourinho told the Telegraph, as cited by Sky Sports.
He continued: "But from a professional point of view, it was not the best."

Mourinho names 2 things he didn't have at United

The 'Special One' went on to explain that he didn't receive the same level of 'support' and 'trust' that the current manager enjoys at the moment.

"I am who I am. I am a football man. Ed comes from a different background and what Ten Hag has in his time at Manchester United I didn't have. I didn't have that level of support. I didn't have that level of trust.

Is Erik ten Hag under pressure?

Meanwhile, Ten Hag is feeling the pressure as Manchester United boss amidst their underwhelming performances all season.

Their recent lacklustre display against Coventry nearly cost them a spot in the FA Cup final, adding to a string of disappointments this term.

Despite boasting the Carabao Cup in his second season, the Dutchman continues to face scrutiny as he aims to secure the FA Cup, provided his team can overcome the odds against Manchester City in the final.

Ten Hag highlights positives after 'embarrassing' win vs Coventry

Sports Brief reported that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag opted against describing his team's laborious win over Coventry City on Sunday as an "embarrassment."

Despite potential concerns about the performance adding pressure on him, the Dutchman preferred to highlight the positives.

"I can't use that term (embarrassment) because, ultimately, it's about the result," he asserted.
