Leicester City is reportedly considering a move for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff.

This is in preparation for the potential departure of Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi.

Longstaff's contract with Newcastle expires in the summer of 2025, which could make him available for a reasonable price in the upcoming transfer window if the Toons decide not to retain him.

The 26-year-old has been a vital player for Eddie Howe's side this season, starting 24 Premier League games and contributing six goals, as reported by All Nigeria Soccer.

With the Foxes gearing up for a Premier League return, Longstaff could be seen as a suitable replacement for Ndidi, given his experience and quality. They are top of the table with 91 points from 43 matches.

The Nigerian was part of the Leicester City squad relegated from the league last season but remained a regular starter in the Championship.

Where will Wilfred Ndidi play next?

The Super Eagles star could be spending his last season with the 2016 Premier League champions, as competition for his signature heats up within and outside England.

As the 2024 summer transfer window approaches, speculation surrounding his future has reached new heights, especially since he has not yet committed to a contract extension.

Amidst swirling rumours, a report from Italian media outlet TuttoSport suggested Juventus were also interested in acquiring the 27-year-old. The Serie A powerhouse is keen on strengthening their midfield for the upcoming season, addressing the weaknesses and lack of depth that have proved costly on several occasions this campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are among several clubs reportedly closely monitoring Ndidi.

Carlton Palmer speaks on Ndidi's future

Sports Brief reported that former England international, Carlton Palmer, shared his thoughts on Ndidi's future at Leicester.

He confirmed that the player had drawn a lot of attention with his performances this season, mentioning teams monitoring his contract situation.

Palmer claimed it would be a massive blow for Leicester City to lose the Nigerian midfielder in the summer.
