Manchester United have made FA Cup history following their dramatic victory over Coventry on Sunday, April 21.

The Premier League giants limped to the final of the tournament after securing a 4-2 victory in the penalty shootouts of the encounter staged at Wembley Stadium.

Erik ten Hag's charges had earlier surrendered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3, forcing the tie into extra time.

Scott McTominay handed United the lead in the 23rd minute before Harry Maguire doubled the advantage with a powerful header moments before the break.

The Mirror reports that Bruno Fernandes appeared to have put the game to bed with the Red Devils' third goal, only for Coventry to score three goals deep in the second half.

Manchester United make FA Cup history

However, the EPL side were able to redeem themselves in the shootouts, with Ramsus Hojlund scoring the winning penalty.

By so doing, SPORTbible reports that United helped make history in the FA Cup by replicating a feat that has not been witnessed in 139 years.

Ten Hag's men are set to face rivals Manchester City in the final of the tournament, in what will be a repeat of last season's final.

This is the first time since 1885 that two teams will be playing each other in the final of the competition for two consecutive seasons.

Blackburn Rovers and QPR were the last to be involved in such a scenario.

Guardiola goes on rant during FA Cup

Sports Brief also reported on Pep Guardiola’s extraordinary rant, just moments after beating Chelsea.

The Spaniard was thoroughly critical of his side’s fixture schedule, as they played in the FA Cup just 72 hours after facing Real Madrid.

Bernardo Silva was the hero as his sole goal sent City to the final.
