Chelsea women's team has ended Barcelona's long unbeaten home run.

This is after the English side stunned their Spanish rivals away from home in the semi-final of the Women's Champions League clash.

The Guardian reports that Erin Cuthbert was the heroine as Chelsea humbled Barca 1-0 at Camp Nou in the first leg of the fixture.

Cuthbert fired the visitors ahead at the end of the first half, with the Scottish defender finding the back of the net with a fine finish off Sjoeke Nusken's well-placed pass.

Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas had a chance to draw Barcelona level moments before the break but fluffed the opportunity.

The hosts thought they had found a breakthrough in the second half when they won a penalty for a handball, only for it to be overturned after a VAR review.

The Blues eventually held on to claim a momentous win ahead of the second leg of the tie at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea end Barca's unbeaten run

More than the victory, the BBC reports that Chelsea also made history in the process as they became the first team to beat Barcelona at home for a long time.

Prior to the clash, the Spanish side had gone for five years without recording any defeat at home.

Meanwhile, Emma Hayes' charges will be hoping to get the job done when they host Barca at home in the second leg.

The Women's Champions League trophy has been elusive for Hayes and her squad, with Barcelona denying them the chance to lift the trophy in 2021 when they were thrashed 4-0 in the final.

Top female coaches in the world

Earlier, Sports Brief analysed the top female coaches in the world.

Hayes, who has been in charge of the Blues since 2012, masterminding a great period of dominance in the Women's Super League, is among the top managers.
