Frank Lampard has singled out Nicolas Jackson for blame following Chelsea's defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup.

The Blues were humbled 1-0 during their meeting with the reigning English champions on Saturday, April 20.

Chelsea's defeat came only days after they hammered Everton 6-0 in the Premier League, with Cole Palmer netting four times.

However, Mauricio Pochettino's men were unable to maintain the momentum when they faced City, with their weekend defeat ending their hopes of ending the season with a trophy.

Metro UK reports that Bernardo Silva was City's hero at Wembley, with his 84th-minute goal enough to send his side to the final of the tournament.

Lampard blames Jackson after Chelsea defeat

Lampard has now singled out Jackson for blame following Chelsea's elimination from the FA Cup.

Speaking during the BBC post-match analysis, the former Blues boss claimed the striker was not at Chelsea's level.

"The header, you hit anywhere but his body it’s a goal. Little decision making, I feel for him, we’ve all been there, we’ve all missed chances and it’s a critical one for the game," he said.
"But as a young player that’s the level that you have to be a striker for Chelsea," he added.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will now be hoping to end the season on a high, with the side angling to secure a European football spot.

The Stamford Bridge dwellers are scheduled to face Arsenal in the London derby in their next Premier League outing.

On their part, City will be waiting to discover their opponent in the FA Cup final when rivals Manchester United take on Coventry in the other semi-final fixture.

Chelsea star slammed for appearing to laugh after defeat

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Chelsea fans fuming after a video of one of their players laughing with Jack Grealish just moments after the team’s FA Cup loss emerged.

The Blues were knocked out of England’s oldest competition by Manchester City, who kept bounced back from Champions League heartbreak 72 hours earlier.
