Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League ouster has prompted the North London club to seriously consider signing a marquee forward ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The Gunners were bundled out in Europe’s most prestigious club competition by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals after falling 3-2 on aggregate against Thomas Tuchel’s team.

According to Punch NG, Arsenal will consider signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen when the summer transfer window opens as fans believe their main attackers have let them down this season.

Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Eddie Nketiah have all been rotated in attack for the North London club so far this season, with the trio having scored 24 goals between them.

Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta, has asked for reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window and it appears the Gunners hierarchy are in full support of the team’s pursuit of Osimhen who is expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season.

PSG hopeful of landing Osimhen

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly hopeful of beating Chelsea and Arsenal to the signature of Napoli striker Osimhen in the summer when the transfer window opens, The Hard Tackle reports.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward is among the most-wanted strikers in Europe currently with top clubs like PSG willing to pay his release clause worth around €130 million to secure his services.

Osimhen has been one of the best players in Serie A since joining Napoli from LOSC Lille in September 2020, leading the Naples club to their first Italian league title in 33 years last season.

Napoli scouts for Osimhen’s replacement

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Jonathan David’s agent has met with Napoli and the club's incoming Sporting Director Giovanni Manna ahead of a potential deal for the Lille forward.

The 24-year-old Canadian forward has emerged as a prime candidate to replace Osimhen at Napoli next season as the Parthenopei prepares to offload the reigning African Footballer of the Year in the summer.

Osimhen will depart the Italian club this summer after penning a new one-year deal just this winter with a €130 million release clause with PSG, Arsenal, and Chelsea interested in signing the forward.
