English Premier League side, Chelsea, have been urged to sign a proven striker should the back and forth over Victor Osimhen linger on.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have been linked with the Nigerian international for months, but they have been told they can get a better striker.

Chelsea are struggling in the mid-table position in the Premier League and they are desperate to land a proven striker ahead of next season.

Osimhen extended his contract with Napoli for just one more year, taking him through until 2026, but several clubs are on his trail.

Etched in his new deal include a £113 million ($143m) release clause, with Chelsea being made aware that he will take an offer of that size.

Stan Collymore, in his Caught Offside column, suggested that Chelsea should consider signing Harry Kane from Bayern Munich.

The writer stated that Kane's wealth of experience is very much needed at the Stamford Bridge. Collymore said:

“I think secretly he wants to come home, and if you were Manchester United, potentially with a new manager and under new ownership, the signing of Kane would represent cache and intent.
“Chelsea also could use not only his goals but his experience to help the young pups along.
"I thought earlier on this season that he should stay and fight Bayer next season to get the title back but I’m particularly warming to Kane to Chelsea."

Why Arsenal cannot sign Osimhen

Sports Brief earlier reported that Arsenal’s purported interest in Victor Osimhen could be nothing but a mere wish for the Premier League club as the Nigerian has been noted to be too expensive for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s team appears to be cooling their interest in the 25-year-old Napoli forward despite being one of the leading contenders for his signature in the summer window.

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has stated that Arsenal are concerned about entering into difficult and lengthy negotiations with Napoli for Osimhen due to his huge release clause.
