Chelsea star Ian Maatsen has reportedly informed the club of his intent to quit Stamford Bridge permanently this summer.

Maatsen is currently on loan with Borussia Dortmund until the end of the ongoing season when he will be expected to return to the Premier League club.

According to Metro UK, the left-back joined the Bundesliga club temporarily during the January transfer window after failing to nail a starting role under Mauricio Pochettino.

The youngster has gone on to form a big part at the Westfalenstadion, with his greatest highlight with the club coming earlier in the week when he scored a vital goal in the Champions League.

His goal helped Dortmund seal a spot in the semi-final of the European tournament at the expense of Atletico Madrid.

Maatsen keen to remain at Dortmund

Speaking after the UCL cracker, the 22-year-old reflected on his time at Stamford Bridge, disclosing he was intent on becoming a regular at Chelsea before his loan move.

Sky Sports' Patrick Berger now claims that Maatsen is unlikely to reunite with the Blues at the end of the season as he is keen on joining Dortmund permanently.

"Ian Maatsen wants to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal in summer. According to our information #CFC is already informed about his plan," he tweeted.

The Dutchman is understood to be having a release clause of €35-40million.

Maatsen spent last season on loan at Burnley and helped the Vincent Kompany-tutored side secure the Championship title and Premier League promotion.

He was also named in the Championship Team of the Season.

Chelsea step up Osimhen transfer plans

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Chelsea’s plot to sign Victor Osimhen this summer, with the west Londoners reportedly initiating negotiations with the Napoli star over a possible transfer.

The 25-year-old forward has been top of the Blues' radar as they seek to sign a marquee centre-forward ahead of the 2024/25 season after an underwhelming campaign so far.
