Having missed most of January due to the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the French-born Guinean rediscovered his scoring form in March as he went on to set a new record at Stuttgart, becoming the first player to score 25 Bundesliga goals in a season for the club.
Former Germany striker, Mario Gomez had held the record for most goals at Stuttgart with 24 strikes in the 2007/08 season.
"Of course, I am proud of this number. Like you saw in Dortmund, I did a Mario Gomez celebration and that was a tribute for him," he told Sporty TV as he paid tribute to Gomez.
"I overtook him. Of course, I am proud. Everybody knows how good Mario Gomez is. I am proud and happy because we also won the game," he added.
