Cole Palmer struggled to hold back his amusement at the introduction he received from a journalist during an interview after his heroics for Chelsea against Everton.

Palmer netted four goals, including a first-half hat-trick and a second-half penalty, as Mauricio Pochettino's men hammered relegation-threatened Everton 6-0.

Per PL Stats, at 29 minutes, it was the fastest perfect hat-trick in the competition's history, surpassing the previous record of 38 minutes set by Tommy Johnson in 1995.

The four goals also helped him tie former Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland for the top scorer position this season, with 20 goals.

The versatile attacker has been the talk of the media, particularly with many fans claiming former boss Pep Guardiola will regret letting him go when he could easily succeed Riyad Mahrez.

He sat for an interview with Optus Sport, and as seen in the introduction shared online, Roger Bennett delivered a poetic interview that will leave Peter Drury proud.

“My guest today is a 21-year-old prodigy, a footballing Young Sheldon, who's announced himself at a Chelsea in transition as the team's cool, composed vibes cartel-loving heartbeat. He's a revelation, a creator, a stone-cold-blooded penalty taker, a clinical finisher, who's just destroyed my Everton as if he were Liam Neeson, taken one, two, and three.
“He's now embroiled in a man versus machine battle against Erling Haaland for the Premier League golden boot, all while being cooler than a polar bear's toenails. It's a joy to welcome Mr. Cole Palmer.”

Palmer contained his reaction to the head-swelling poetic rendition. He was understandably lost for words and could only respond to the 38-second talk with “Hello, America.”

Next for him and Chelsea is an FA Cup semi-final match against his former club, Man City, at Wembley Stadium. The last two games between the two sides ended in draws.

Chelsea's alternatives to Palmer

Sports Brief reported on nine players Chelsea considered before signing Palmer, as the English youngster was not the Blues' first choice and was signed on transfer deadline day.

The other players either remained at their clubs or moved elsewhere, but none is having a better season or could have had a greater impact at Chelsea than Palmer.
