Arsenal’s purported interest in Victor Osimhen could be nothing but a mere wish for the Premier League club as the Nigerian has been noted to be too expensive for the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s team appears to be cooling their interest in the 25-year-old Napoli forward despite being one of the leading contenders for his signature in the summer window.
According to Caught Offside, football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has stated that Arsenal are concerned about entering into difficult and lengthy negotiations with Napoli for Osimhen due to his huge release clause.
"I’ve had some fans asking me about reports in Italy suggesting that Arsenal have cooled their interest in Victor Osimhen because he could be too expensive, or that they are concerned about entering into difficult and lengthy negotiations with Napoli.

"Osimhen has always been appreciated, but many clubs are cautious now waiting to understand the salary/commission package, as there’s already a very expensive release clause to take into consideration. This is why Arsenal are looking at other strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres, who remains on their shortlist."
Osimhen’s current release clause stands at €130 million, which has seemingly forced the Gunners to cool interest in the Nigerian and focus on pursuing a deal for Sporting Lisbon forward, Gyokeres.
