Pep Guardiola has sent Liverpool and Arsenal a message over Manchester City's Premier League title race as the season enters its homestretch.

The three English teams are the leading contenders for the crown after an impressive run of form and results, with City keen to make history by winning the trophy for the fourth consecutive time.

The Citizens took an edge over Arsenal and Liverpool in the title race over the weekend after both the Gunners and the Reds dropped points in their respective fixtures.

City hammered Luton Town 5-1 on Saturday to momentarily go top of the standings, only for the other two teams to lose their matches on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta's men suffered a 2-0 surprising defeat against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium, with Liverpool suffering a similar fate when they hosted Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Guardiola predicts EPL title race

Despite City having a clear advantage over Liverpool and Arsenal in the title race, Guardiola is adamant nothing is certain at this point.

According to the Spaniard, the race is still wide open, adding that City still have some tough fixtures coming up for anyone to rate them as the clear favourites at this point.

"What is two points difference? When we were two points down on Arsenal and Liverpool, I was thinking we have to do our job, it is not over," Pep noted via Metro UK.
"Now we are two in front, it is not over. It is the same feeling I have in previous weeks when we draw against Arsenal,"he added.

City will be back in action on Wednesday night when they take on Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Etihad Stadium.
