Furious Arsenal fans have pinpointed tactical mistakes made by Mikel Arteta that could cost them the Premier League title.

Arsenal's hopes of ending their long wait for league crown were dented on Sunday, April 14, after they suffered a 2-0 loss against Aston Villa.

Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins were both on target in the second half of the EPL cracker as the Villans downed the hosts.

The humiliating defeat at the Emirates Stadium denied the north Londoners a glorious chance to go back to the summit of the standings.

Arteta's charges needed a positive result in the tie to leapfrog Manchester City, who hammered Luton Town 5-1 on Saturday.

However, the loss against Unai Emery's men now leaves them sitting second with 71 points, two points behind leaders City.

Arteta's tactical mistake in Aston Villa loss

A section of Arsenal fans has now highlighted the tactical mistake made by Arteta, which they contend could negatively impact their title chances.

The supporters questioned Arteta's decision to play the trio of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz in the match, arguing they led to their loss against Villa.

@Tripple____M posted:

"Mikel Arteta had everything wrong, Kai Havertz from August was on display, Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko below average, honesty, where do we go from here??"

@IamPrinceSanya observed:

"Stuck with unproductive Jesus upfront, Zinchenko never gives defensive cover and Havertz in midfield is never working out. Arteta is always stubborn and it has costed him again."

@DharmaModi added:

"Arteta was the reason we lost today… why start Jesus and Zinchenko when Havertz and Kiwor have been doing the business for us."

@Goldrich_mwas concluded:

"Arteta has cost us the league for bringing in Zinchenko and an out of form Gabriel Jesus. Havertz has proved he ca do well upfront."

Arsenal will be back in action on Wednesday night when they will take on Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

The two teams drew 2-2 in their first leg played at the Emirates Stadium.
