Mamelodi Sundowns’ style of play has earned them many rave reviews.

It has also earned them a following from previous supporters of other DStv Premiership sides, as is the case with Mlondi Mbanjwa.

Mlondi Mbanjwa has attracted interest from overseas thanks to his impressive performances for AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana.

The AmaZulu player recently admitted that he was a fan of Kaizer Chiefs growing up, but then changed allegiance to Sundowns after watching them play, The South African noted.

He added that his love for the Amakhosi started because his father was a fan of the team.

"I grew up supporting Chiefs, but as time went on, I decided to support Sundowns, especially because of how they play. I like how they play."

The Glamour Boys remain South Africa’s most supported side, but many of the club’s fans grew up during Chiefs' dominant era.

Having not won a trophy since the 2014/15 season, a new generation of fans don’t know what it’s like to see the club with silverware.

Could Mbanjwa join Amakhosi?

With his stock rising following his Bafana Bafana call-up, more sides have shown interest in the 25-year-old.

Sundowns and Chiefs are rumoured to be interested in him, but his agent is considering a move elsewhere for the right-back.

As noted by iDiskiTimes, his agent, Siboniso Ngubane, confirmed that he had approached scouts in Europe to look at the player.

"Every player has a dream to play for their national team and to play abroad. So, for me, it was important to get in touch with people overseas. Yes, I did reach out to people in Portugal to come have a look at him," he said.

Sundowns now most valuable team in Africa

Sports Brief also previously reported how Sundowns were crowned Africa's most valuable team.

The South African league champions leapfrogged Egypt’s Al Ahly to claim the top spot on the list.

Fellow DStv Premiership side, Kaizer Chiefs, dropped to seventh after another trophyless season.
