Sunday Oliseh is optimistic Victor Boniface will help Nigeria end its Africa Cup of Nations drought after the Super Eagles forward clinched the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen.

According to the Daily Post, Oliseh, in his congratulatory message to Boniface, predicted that the 23-year-old forward will lead Nigeria to AFCON success in the near future.

“Victor Boniface was once again extraordinary as Leverkusen grabbed its first-ever Bundesliga title with 5 games left to play. Boniface is strong, skilful, intelligent, mobile, calm under pressure and I am convinced he will lead Nigeria to AFCON glory & more soon. Congrats,” Oliseh wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Boniface, who missed Nigeria’s 2023 AFCON campaign due to injury, contributed 11 goals and eight assists in only 18 matches to help Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title unbeaten.

Boniface targets treble with Leverkusen

Meanwhile, Boniface has stressed that Bayer Leverkusen are determined to win the remaining two titles this season after clinching the Bundesliga on Sunday, Naija News reports.

Xabi Alonso’s men are gunning for the treble this season as they are one step away from reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League and also in the DFB Pokal final where they will take on Kaiserslautern.

Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title with five games to spare and have been unbeaten in 29 league games, winning 25 and drawing four while scoring 74 goals and conceding only 19.

Boniface pours beer on Alonso

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Boniface shared a special moment with Alonso by baptising the Bayer Leverkusen manager with beer while celebrating their Bundesliga title win.

The Super Eagles forward scored his 11th Bundesliga goal of the season as Leverkusen ran riot over Werder Bremen at the Bay Arena to win the German title for the first time.

Alonso made history by becoming the first coach to achieve that incredible feat with the German club.
