Victor Osimhen: Liverpool Legend Urges Klopp’s Side to Sign Super Eagles Star As Salah’s Replacement

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has urged Jurgen Klopp's side to sign Nigerian international Victor Osimhen from Napoli in the summer as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian international has been linked with a move to the Saudi Professional League, with Liverpool turning down the league's approach last summer.

The Saudi Pro League director, Michael Emenalo, is still interested in bringing Salah to the Middle East and has a good relationship with the Egyptian winger after being involved in the deal that brought the player to Chelsea in 2014.

Liverpool is set to lose Klopp at the end of the season, and they could also lose some of their main players, including Salah.

In a recent interview with ESPN FC Extra Time, as per All Nigeria Soccer, Nicol chose Osimhen when asked to name a striker Liverpool should sign in the summer apart from Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

"Any player? The fact that Salah is going to be gone, whether it's this year or next year, Osimhen. I think Osimhen would be fantastic for Liverpool," he said.

Liverpool have yet to show interest in the Nigerian striker, while their Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are all monitoring the player's situation at Napoli.

A return to the French Ligue 1 is also on the cards for Osimhen, with Paris Saint-Germain being the frontrunner in the race to sign the former Lille striker.

Napoli identifies Osimhen’s replacement

Sports Brief previously reported that Napoli have identified Chelsea transfer target, Jonathan David, as the perfect replacement for Osimhen this summer should the Nigerian leave.

David is having an impressive season with OSC, scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 39 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants.

With Osimhen's departure said to be imminent, Napoli are already seemingly planning for life without the Nigerian international and are linked with different strikers.
