The involvement of agents and intermediaries in football transfers has created many processes, and the bigger the fee, the more time and personnel it could require to complete.

Chelsea have been the busiest club in the transfer market since Todd Boehly's led consortium took over the club from Roman Abramovich in 2022, paying more on attached fees.

It comes as no surprise that Chelsea paid an astonishing £75 million to agents and intermediaries in the summer window of 2023 and winter 2024. Per Chelseafc.com, they completed 11 transfers in that period, including the British record transfer of £ 115 million for Moises Caicedo.

2. Manchester City

The treble winners are not far behind, having paid £60.6mil in agent fees since February 1, 2023. Per Goal, during that period, they signed four first-team stars—Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku, and Mateo Kovacic—for a total fee of £206mil.

3. Manchester United

The Red Devils are one of the most financially capable clubs in English football. In the period under consideration, they paid £34mil to intermediaries. They made four permanent transfers of Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Altay Bayindir in that period.

4. Liverpool

English football's most successful club, Liverpool, paid £31.5mil to agents in the period under review. The Reds spent £147mil to recruit Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo in the summer of 2023 but made no signing in January.

Premier League leaders Arsenal paid a modest £24.7mil to agents over the transfers of Declan Rice (£105mil), Kai Havertz (£65mil) and Jurrien Timber (£38mil). Unfortunately, the Dutch defender got injured on the opening day of the season.
