On social media, the Atalanta win delighted one Manchester United player, who could not hide his joy.

According to talkSPORT, striker Rasmus Hojlund took to his Instagram stories to share a photo of Atalanta players celebrating along with the caption, “Mola Mia”, which translates to “Never give up.”

Some fans took Hojlund’s post as a subtle dig at United’s fierce rivals Liverpool, but some saw it as the Dane simply appreciating his former club. Perhaps it was a little bit of both.

Before moving to Manchester United in the summer of 2023, Hojlund spent a season with Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.

The former Sturm Graz marksman scored 10 goals and provided four assists at Atalanta before Erik ten Hag took up his services for £64 million.

Despite a slow start at Old Trafford that saw him goalless in 14 appearances, Hojlund finally got off the mark for his new team and has contributed 13 goals and two assists for United across all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.
