Victor Boniface was back to his best after he helped Bayer Leverkusen preserve their unbeaten run this season as they sealed a comfortable 2-0 win over West Ham in the Europa League.

The Nigerian forward, who only just returned from an adductor injury, got one better over Ghanaian winger Mohammed Kudus after netting Leverkusen’s second goal and mimicking his goal celebration.

According to Complete Sports, Boniface was introduced into the game in the 76th minute and doubled the German’s lead in the 91st minute as he rose to head home Jonas Hofmann’s cross.

The goal also marked his fifth in six games in the Europa League for Bayer Leverkusen this season and his first since returning from a three-month injury layoff due to an adductor injury.

Xabi Alonso's team has now gone 42 games unbeaten in all competitions this season, with 37 victories, five draws, and no losses.

Fans hail Boniface after goal

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s rivalry with Ghana continued in the Europa League as some Nigerians were delighted to see Boniface outshine West Ham’s winger Kudus in the first leg of their Europa League clash at the Bay Arena on Thursday night.

One Nigerian, Mich Alex, claims Boniface owns Kudus after the Super Eagles forward scored against the London club to seal the 2-0 win for Bayer Leverkusen.

“You own Kudus and his Ghanaian brothers.” @Mich__Alex posted on X (formerly Twitter).

One Ghanaian, Atta Nyantakyi, tweeted that the Super Eagles striker is better than Kudus after the game.

“You are better than kudus I have seen the light.” @AttaNyantakyi tweeted.
Jimmy jokingly tweeted that Boniface should please release Kudus from his pocket after a brilliant performance from the Nigerian.
“I still dey find kudus I no see am Shey u no go commot am for your pocket ni.” @JiimmySZN posted on X.

Boniface has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Boniface mocks Kudus after goal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Boniface took the rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria to the next level after hitting Kudus' iconic celebration during the Europa League against West Ham.

The 23-year-old scored late as the German side defeated the Hammers 2-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final clash.

Boniface rose high to head home a cross from Jonas Hoffman to hand Leverkusen the crucial second goal before their trip to London.
