Following the Super Eagles' impressive performance at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), several other eligible players have expressed interest in playing for Nigeria if given the chance, and the latest player to consider this option is Atalanta defender, Caleb Okoli.

Okoli’s agent on Super Eagles
According to a report from media outlet OwnGoalNigeria, the former Italy U21 international had expressed interest in playing for the Super Eagles shortly after gaining attention with Gian Piero Gasperini's side.
Despite this, he did not receive a call-up from former Nigeria coach, Jose Peseiro. This delayed call-up led to speculation that perhaps he was waiting for a call-up from the Italian national team instead.
However, amid these speculations, his agent has clarified why he is yet to feature for the Super Eagles.
The report indicates that the representative of the 22-year-old stated that the Nigerian football team representatives have not reached out to the defender regarding playing for Nigeria.
Frank Onyeka: Super Eagles Midfielder Cleared to Face Manchester United in the Premier League
Football"Coach Peseiro didn't talk to Okoli. I asked him if there was any contact, and he said there wasn't. We had the same conversation before the AFCON, and he still hadn't been contacted. We can only decide when there's contact, so we're waiting."
The addition of Okoli to the current crop of Super Eagles players would be beneficial, as his ball-playing ability and aerial prowess would enhance the quality of the Nigerian team.
Bundesliga stars want to represent Nigeria
In another report by Sports Brief, as many as three Nigeria-eligible players currently playing in the Bundesliga are eager to represent Nigeria.
This report follows closely after Nigeria's performance at the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
