Manchester United red cards

Four out of Ronaldo's 12 red cards came during his time with Manchester United, all of which transpired in Premier League matches.

His first-ever red card as a professional happened in the game against Aston Villa on May 15, 2004, with the Portuguese star given his marching orders in the 85th minute.

Two of his dismissals with United happened in the Manchester derby. He was shown the red card in City's 3-1 win over United on January 14, 2006, after a reckless foul on Andy Cole.

He was given another red card in City and United's clash on November 30, 2008. Despite going a man down, the Red Devils pulled off a 1-0 victory in that contest.

Ronaldo's other dismissal with United came in the game against Portsmouth on August 15, 2007, with that match ending in a 1-1 draw.

Real Madrid red cards

Half of Ronaldo's 12 red cards came during his time with Real Madrid. Four out of his six dismissals with the Spanish giants happened in La Liga matches.

His first red card in the Spanish top flight was on December 5, 2009, in the game against Almeria. He followed that up with red cards against Malaga, Athletic Club, and Cordoba.

He was also given his marching orders in the Copa Del Rey once, with the Portuguese star being sent off in a clash with Atletico Madrid on May 17, 2013. That proved costly for Real Madrid as they lost that contest 2-1.

Ronaldo also received his marching orders on August 13, 2017, in a match against bitter rivals Barcelona in the Supercopa.

He picked up his first yellow card in the 80th minute of that contest after removing his shirt in a post-goal celebration. He received his second yellow card a couple of minutes later for diving, per Goal.com.

Despite going a man down, Real Madrid were able to record a 3-1 victory.

Juventus red card

Ronaldo received one red card during his time with Juventus. That happened in the game against Valencia in the UEFA Champions League on September 19, 2018.

This was the Portuguese star's first dismissal in a European competition, and it happened in his first-ever Champions League match for Juventus.

He was sent off in the 29th minute after an altercation with Jeison Murillo.

Al-Nassr red card

Ronaldo saw red for the first time in an Al-Nassr uniform during their 2-1 loss to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup. He was given his marching orders in the 86th minute after receiving a straight red for an elbow on Ali Albulayhi.

He nearly lost it after the dismissal, with Ronaldo raging at the referee.

Argentina red cards

Messi's first two red cards as a professional happened while he was on international duty with Argentina.

He first received a red card in a friendly match against Hungary on August 15, 2005, with the Argentine star sent off in the 65th minute.

He had a debut to forget for La Albiceleste, with Messi given his marching orders just two minutes after coming on as a substitute. The teen phenom was adjudged to have struck Hungary's Vilmos Vanczak.

His second career red card happened almost 14 years later in the Copa America. He was sent off in the game against Chile after a confrontation with Gary Medel, per Bleacher Report.

Argentina were able to record a 2-1 win even without their captain.

Barcelona red card

His lone red card during his time with Barcelona was also the last dismissal of his career.

He was sent off in the Supercopa final against Athletic Club on January 17, 2021 after taking a swing at Asier Villalibre.

Al-Nassr crash out of Saudi Super Cup

Sports Brief recently reported on Ronaldo missing out on another title in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Nassr crashed out of the Saudi Super Cup following Monday's 2-1 loss.

Sadio Mane scored a consolation goal for Al-Nassr in second-half stoppage time after Ronaldo was sent off in the 86th minute.
