  • Andre Onana starred for Man United in their 2-2 draw with Liverpool
  • He proved to be a stumbling block for the Reds, making crucial saves
  • But it was his attempt at dribbling Cody Gakpo that caught many eyes

Manchester United shot-stopper, Andre Onana, displayed his ball-playing skills with a sublime piece of dribbling during his side's enthralling 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper once again proved his worth between the sticks, demonstrating his goalkeeping abilities as he helped secure a point against the Reds.

Onana, in fine form after a dodgy start to his career at Old Trafford, made a spectacular save just three minutes in to deny Dominik Szoboszlai. Throughout the game, he remained busy, thwarting most of Liverpool's attacking efforts.

According to GOAL, the 28-year-old made three crucial saves from a total of 15 shots faced in the first half alone, playing a vital role in keeping the scoreline respectable despite Luis Diaz's early goal for Liverpool.

Although he was unable to prevent Mohamed Salah from equalising from the penalty spot, following Kobbie Mainoo's goal that put United ahead after Bruno Fernandes drew matters level, the ex-Inter Milan goalie was undoubtedly one of United's standout performers.

His impressive display, including a moment of showmanship with the ball at his feet, captured the attention of social media users and further cemented his reputation as a top-class goalkeeper.

Andre Onana shows Cody Gakpo who's boss

After receiving a back pass from a teammate, Andre demonstrated why he is considered one of the best ball-playing goalkeepers.

As Cody Gakpo closed in on him, aiming to steal possession, the Dutchman found himself in a tricky situation.

However, Onana had a different plan. Rather than blasting his clearance, he opted to finesse it by checking back, leaving Gakpo stranded.

Having successfully 'handled' the ex-PSV hitman, the 28-year-old calmly passed the ball back to his teammate to initiate an offensive move.

According to Sofascore, Onana and United's next match will be against Bournemouth on April 13 as they strive for European qualification.

Onana causes a stir with Vaseline use

Sports Brief also reported that the United goalkeeper triggered discussions on social media during his team's Premier League encounter against Liverpool.

In a moment captured on camera, 28-year-old Onana seemed to apply Vaseline to his gloves following a deflection from Mohamed Salah's penalty kick.

Although the purpose behind this action is subject to speculation, it's plausible he wanted to improve his grip, given the rainy conditions at Old Trafford.
