The Premier League title race is hotting up following Manchester United's 2-2 draw against rivals Liverpool.

The two English giants shared the spoils at Old Trafford after a high-stake clash played on Sunday, April 7, with the result plunging the title race wide open.

Liverpool went into the tie with the hope of securing a positive result to catapult them back to the top of the table.

Jurgen Klopp's charges dropped to second momentarily after Arsenal stunned Brighton in their own fixture on Saturday to go top with 71 points.

Liverpool, therefore, needed a win away at Old Trafford to stand any chance of leapfrogging the Gunners.

EPL table looks after Man United vs Liverpool draw

However, the draw away from home now leaves the Merseysiders sitting second, on level on points with Arsenal.

Manchester City, who beat Crystal Palace away at Selhurst Park sit third with 70 points.

Aston Villa complete the top four podium with 60 points following their 3-3 draw with Brentford, while Tottenham Hotspur are fifth with 57 points.

United's draw with Liverpool has them sitting sixth with 49 points.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United remain bottom on the other end of the table, with Burnley and Luton Town the other two teams in the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest are the other side battling relegation, with the Nuno Espirito-tutored side sitting 17th with a superior goal difference over Luton.

Arsenal fans thank Man United after draw

In a related report, Sports Brief also reported on Arsenal fans thanking Manchester United for frustrating Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Jurgen Klopp's charges went into the match as the clear favourites to win owing to United's recent poor run.

The Old Trafford result plunged the title race wide open, with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City all eyeing glory.
