Controversy brew in the 59th minute when Aziz Ki struck from inside the area, the ball rattled the crossbar and then bounced off the goal line.
A careful look at the replays show that the ball actually crossed the line, but Mauritian referee Dahane Beida denied the goal.
Play was stopped for a moment and after a VAR review, referee waved play on, leaving Yanga SC fans fuming.
Many blasted the centre-referee for failing to check the pitch-side monitor for a review, before making his decision.
Mamelodi Sundowns are now through to the final of the continental spectacle, leaving fans lamenting on social media.

"African football is increasingly shrouded in a terrifying cloud. What happened yesterday was an assault on the beautiful game.
"Whether the referee acted intentionally or by unfortunate coincidence, he disallowed Yanga’s legitimate goal that could have determined their fate in the CAF Champions League."

Sports Brief earlier reported that Williams saved two penalties as Masandawana booked their place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League by beating Young Africans.
The South African side eliminated Yanga on penalties after their two-legged tie ended 0-0.
