  • Bayer Leverkusen are through to the final of the DFB Pokal
  • Jeremie Frimpong scored as they defeated Fortuna Dusseldorf
  • The Dutch defender and Amine Adli produced a new celebration

Bayer Leverkusen stars, Jeremie Frimpong and Amine Adli, joined the celebrations in Germany following the country's relaxed laws on the use of hemp.

On Monday, Germany announced the legalisation of hemp in small quantities for personal and recreational use.

Frimpong, who has been in sensational form this season, added another goal to his tally for the campaign as Bayer Leverkusen brushed aside Fortuna Dusseldorf to reach the final of the DFB Pokal.

In celebrating his goal, he was joined by Moroccan midfielder Adli as they produced a smoking gesture to mark the newest law in Germany.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Frimpong and Adli were seen lighting up an imaginary blunt to celebrate the moment.

Both players have been key to Xabi Alonso's incredible campaign this season, as the German outfit remains the only unbeaten club in Europe's top five leagues.

Bayer Leverkusen are on the brink of making history as they chase their first-ever Bundesliga title, which could ultimately end Bayern Munich's ten-year run as champions.

They also face FC Kaiserslautern in the final of the DFB Pokal on May 25, as reported by Sportschau.

Victor Boniface returns from injury

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Victor Boniface made his injury comeback for Bayer Leverkusen in the game against Fortuna Dusseldorf in the DFB Pokal semi-final.

The Nigeria forward has described his time on the sidelines as a difficult moment in his career and hopes to help the club win trophies at the end of the season.

The injury stopped Boniface from making his debut at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast early this year.

African stars set for Leverkusen history

Sports Brief also reported that African players have played a key role in Xabi Alonso's amazing run as coach of Bayer Leverkusen this season.

The Bundesliga leaders could end Bayern Munich's dominance with a few more wins while also making a huge lead in the UEFA Europa League, with a game in the quarter-finals against West Ham United.

The German outfit are the only unbeaten team in Europe's top five leagues with the record stretching back to 40 games.
