There has been a protocol established to enable Muslim players to observe their fast during a match, since 2021, Liverpool Echo reported.

Among the players on Jurgen Klopp's side observing the Ramadan are Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate. Previously, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita also benefited from such breaks.

The Islamic holy month commenced on the evening of Sunday, March 10, and will continue until April 9. Those who observe this month will abstain from eating or drinking between approximately 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Liverpool hosted the relegation-threatened side in hopes of reclaiming the top spot in the Premier League.

On Wednesday, Arsenal regained their position at the summit with a 2-0 victory over Luton Town, per Sky Sports.
