  • Nigeria have dropped two places in the latest FIFA rankings for April
  • The Super Eagles are ranked among the best 30 teams in the world
  • Bafana Bafana also dropped in the newly released rankings by FIFA

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped in the latest FIFA world rankings, with Bafana Bafana also down in the April ratings released by the football governing body.

The latest drop in rankings by the two national teams was due to their inconsistent performances during the international break in March.

South Africa drew their friendlies against Andorra and Algeria in the FIFA Series, while Nigeria won against Ghana and lost to Mali.

The Super Eagles' performance in the international break saw them drop two places in the latest FIFA rankings. However, they still maintain their position as the third-best team in Africa, behind Morocco and Senegal.

Nigeria dropped from 28th to 30th position in the newly released global ranking, with Poland occupying their former position.

The same applies to Bafana Bafana; they dropped from 58th to 59th while still maintaining their 10th place in the Africa rankings, according to a report by iDiskiTimes.

In the world rankings, Argentina are still ranked the number one team, followed by France. Belgium have replaced England as the third-best national team, with the Three Lions dropping to fourth.

Brazil maintained their position as the fifth-best team in the world, but the Netherlands were displaced from the sixth place by Portugal.

Broos fires warning to Super Eagles

Sports Brief earlier reported that Hugo Broos sent a warning to Nigeria ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Bafana Bafana have failed to qualify for football’s biggest international competition since hosting the tournament in 2010.

Nigeria will host South Africa on June 3 when the qualifiers resume and Broos is determined to avenge their AFCON loss.
