It was a black Wednesday in the South Africa football world as Kaizer Chiefs lost their defender, Luke Fleurs, after being gunned down in a reported hijacking incident in Johannesburg.
The 24-year-old, who recently joined Chiefs from their PSL rivals, SuperSport United, signed a two-year deal with the Glamour Boys in October but did not debut before his untimely death.
The former South Africa Under-23 star was reportedly driving his Volkswagen and had pulled up at a petrol station on 14th Avenue when he was shot, according to IOL.
In the wake of the tragic incident, Kaizer Chiefs have taken to their official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to add to the many tributes pouring in for the late Fleurs.

Via the same post, Amakhosi also gave an update on the investigation process concerning the death of the former Ubuntu Cape Town centre-back.
"It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce that Kaizer Chiefs player, Luke Fleurs tragically lost his life last night during a hijacking incident in Johannesburg. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time," the club wrote.
Kaizer Chiefs also stated the South African Police Service (SAPS) was handling the matter and any details would be communicated in due course.
"May his dear soul rest in peace," the post ended.
Fleurs started his career with Ubuntu Cape Town before going on to make 66 appearances for SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership.
