Football enthusiasts in Nigeria and Ghana are divided after Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Black Stars forward Inaki Williams are compared.

Both players, who don the No.9 shirt at their respective clubs, have been in decent form this season, scoring crucial goals.

Osimhen led Napoli to the Serie A title last season, bagging 26 league goals as he also claimed the top scorer award.

Williams, on the other hand, had a decent last season with Athletic Bilbao scoring 10 goals in 36 La Liga matches.

The pair are also having a sensational 2023/2024 season although Osimhen reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria conceded the title to Ivory Coast.

Victor Osimhen's stats this season

The 25-year-old has notched in 13 goals in 25 matches in all competitions for Napoli this season.

He has netted 11 goals in 18 matches so far in the Serie A 2023/2024 season.

Footy Stats reports that his goal involvement equates to 0.88 per 90 minutes. His Non-Penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.52.

This puts Victor Osimhen's npxG output at 8.16 which puts him in the top 97 percentile of Serie A players.

Inaki Williams' stats this season

The 29-year-old Ghanaian international has scored 11 goals in 31 matches for Athletico Bilbao in all competitions this season.

According to Footy Stats, Inaki Williams has scored 9 goals in 27 matches so far in the La Liga 2023/2024 season.

Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 12 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.47 per 90 minutes.

His Non-Penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.46.

This puts Inaki Williams's npxG output at 11.73 which puts him in the top 95 percentile of La Liga players.

Fans divided over Osimhen, Inaki Williams Comparison

A Nigerian football fan argued:

"Please, it's not good at all to compare Osimhen and Inaki Williams; Osimhen became 4th best striker in the whole world. Please put some respect to Osimhen.

A Ghanian replied:

"Athletic Bilbao goal machine, Inaki Williams compared to a Batman, he hasn't saved his team from 8th position in the farmers league, scoring just one goal in 7 AFCON games that one too na striker?"

Osimhen linked with Premier League move

Sports Brief earlier reported that Italian transfer guru, Gaetano Fedele, believes he knows Victor Osimhen's future destination amid links with Premier League giants, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Nigerian striker has been in the Italian Serie A since 2020 after joining Napoli from French Ligue 1 side, Lille OSC.

The Super Eagles star's impressive performance last season in Italy's top flight helped his club win the Scudetto after over three decades.
