Mamelodi Sundowns are gearing up for crunch fixtures in April and will have their inspirational captain back for them.

Themba Zwane has missed the team’s last two fixtures, including a CAF Champions League tie, but is set to return for the upcoming game, much to the relief of the coach, Rulani Mokwena.

The Sundowns boss is thrilled to welcome back Mshishi to the fold, hailing him for being so important to the team.

While he placed emphasis on Zwane’s return, he also encouraged all squad members to play their part in their upcoming games, Times LIVE noted.

"Themba Zwane is Themba Zwane. I speak a lot of about Mshishi’s influence and importance to this group, but we need everybody, and that is the message I have been saying to the players," the boss stated.

When could Zwane return?

The inspirational captain missed out on the Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie against Young Africans but is expected to be back for the return fixture.

His experience and creativity will be a big boost for the South African side as they look to win the second leg and progress to the tournament's semi-final. The first leg finished 0-0 in Tanzania.

Zwane was also rested for the midweek DStv Premiership game against Richards Bay FC, in preparation for the crucial Champions League tie.

Zwane’s importance for club and country

Mshisi is undoubtedly one of the country’s greatest players, and he’s proved it for club and country.

He showed his class at the recent Africa Cup of Nations tournament and continues to be a stalwart for Sundowns.

Transfermarkt reported that he's made 395 appearances in the colours of Masandawana, scoring 79 goals and notching 56 assists.

4 key fixtures in April for Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have a busy month ahead in terms of fixtures and will need all of their superstars back to get through it.

The South African side have fixtures in the league, Champions League, and Nedbank Cup as they chase furhter success.
