  • Mario Balotelli has aired his views on the strength of Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez
  • The former Manchester City striker also weighed on the title race in the Serie A this season
  • Martinez and Osimhen have both been the best strikers in the Italian league for three years

Former Inter Milan and Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has weighed in on the comparison between Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez in one aspect.

Both forwards have been the best strikers in the Italian Serie A for the past three seasons and have a league title to back the claim up.

Osimhen led the scoring charts when Napoli won the league in the 2022-23 season, while the Argentine striker is currently the top scorer in the Serie A with 23 goals, and Inter Milan are on course to win their 20th league title.

Despite being close with Osimhen, Balotelli was not biased with his assessment when asked who the strongest player in the Italian league was between the Nigerian striker, Martinez, and AC Milan's Rafael Leao.

According to Tutto Napoli, as per Soccernet, the former Manchester City star believes Martinez is the strongest among the trio.

"I say Lautaro in front of Osimhen and Leao," he said.

The former Olympique Marseille forward also shared his thoughts on the title race this season in the Serie A.

"I won the English Premier League at the last second, so you must play until the end because anything is possible. But I think it's hard for Inter to lose this Scudetto," he added.

Osimhen named highest paid in Serie A

Sports Brief earlier reported that Osimhen was named the highest-paid footballer in the Italian Serie A.

Napoli signed the Super Eagles forward for a fee of around €75 million from French Ligue 1 side Lille in 2020, and he has already led the club to the Scudetto for the first time in over three decades.

According to the new contract the Nigerian international signed in December last year, the striker now earns a monthly salary of £1.29m, almost doubling his previous earnings.
