  • Dani Alves reportedly used his first days of freedom to party
  • Alves was released from Brians 2 prison in Spain on Monday
  • He is appealing the four-and-half-year sentence given to him

Dani Alves reportedly partied until the wee hours of the morning following his release from jail on Monday, March 25.

Alves was released just a few months after he was convicted of sexual assault in an incident which is said to have taken place in December 2022.

The former full-back has been in custody since January of last year before he was handed a four-and-a-half-year sentence in February.

He was also required to pay a fine of up to €150,000 in damages to the victim. The protection has signalled its intent to appeal the verdict, seeking a longer sentence, while Alves wants to be cleared of the charges altogether.

He will appeal the case from home after he agreed to the rules that will govern the terms of his bond. It was reported that he was released on a €1million bond. It had been reported that Memphis Depay had settled the bond, but the agent of the Atletico Madrid striker denied those claims, as quoted by Goal.

The 40-year-old also surrendered his Spanish and Brazilian passports to the court.

What Alves did after being released

Football Espana now reports that Alves spent one of his first nights as a free person to party until 5 am. He went to his house in Esplugues de Llobregat, where two friends were spotted arriving on Tuesday night with music going on until 5 am.

Other outlets indicate that the Brazilian might have been celebrating his father's recent birthday.

Barcelona revoke Alves' legendary status

Sports Brief have also previously reported on Barcelona stripping Alves of his legendary status at the club following his conviction in a sexual assault case.

Alves made over 400 appearances for Barcelona in two separate stints, winning three Champions League titles six La Liga titles, among other trophies.

His first and most successful stint came between 2008 and 2016 before he felt for Juventus.
