  • Romelu Lukaku produced an outrageous assist for Belgium against England
  • The striker successfully executed a Trivela pass that found Youri Tielemans
  • Tielemans went on to complete a brace against England in the friendly clash

Romelu Lukaku earned plaudits on social media after producing a classy assist during England’s friendly against Belgium on Tuesday, March 26.

The 30-year-old was back in the side after missing the Red Devils' disappointing goalless draw against Ireland a few days earlier with a groin issue.

Belgium boss, Domenico Tedesco, started Lukaku in the centre of attack with Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku and Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard on either side of the Roma man.

Throughout the first half, the burly forward was a consistent pain for England defender, Lewis Dunk, and it showed when the Brighton man failed to deal with him in the 36th minute, leading to a goal.

The Three Lions man was guilty of failing to deal with a ball over the top, which Lukaku expertly controlled before delivering a devilish cross with the outside of the boot.

The expert pass found Youri Tielemans and the Aston Villa star pounced with a diving header to give The Red Devils the lead for the second time in the game.

Tielemans had initially put Belgium ahead in the 11th minute after taking advantage of an error from Jordan Pickford before Ivan Toney helped his country draw level from the penalty spot.

The Three Lions would be grateful for the glittering form of Real Madrid star, Jude Bellingham, who came to the rescue with a last-gasp equaliser to see the game drawn 2-2, per BBC Sport.

Why England stars wore nameless shirts

Sports Brief has also previously reported that England players wore shirts without names for their second friendly of the first international break against Belgium.

This is the final fixture before the start of the Euro 2024 in Germany, with the continental competition set to kick off after the playoff spots were all determined.

England lost their first friendly game at the Wembley Stadium to South American powerhouses, Brazil, thanks to 17-year-old Endrick’s first international score.
